With the Heckler, you can expand your trail network, ride previously inaccessible trails and open up less-used trails for yourself – and all independently. The full carbon frame and swappable 504Wh battery keep the weight down compared to other e-bikes. The battery can be easily replaced on long trips.

Our bikes have always been about optimizing riding fun. MTB pioneers and “boy scouts” like Greg Williams, Danny MacAskill, and Ash Smith have never asked for blunt ascent aids or trail simplifications. But on the contrary. They wanted something that would take their biking to a new level. And we still attach great importance to agility and reliable riding fun on the trail.

27.5-inch wheels are lighter and therefore more agile off-road. The wheel mix gives the rider the confidence of a 29″ wheel, which provides plenty of traction in the front and better rollover behavior in technical terrain. And the 27.5″ rear wheel, in turn, keeps the chainstay length at a moderate 445mm, for agility and driving fun. Without compromising on the geometry, which continues to guarantee agile and precise handling.

The new Shimano EP8 motor is lighter than its predecessor (380g), has more power (85Nm vs. 75Nm), a smaller volume (-10%) for more ground clearance, less drag (50%), is more heat resistant and tuned for more performance in trail mode. All this means that it is even better suited for long and hard tours.

And like every Santa Cruz bike, the Heckler is built for the rigors of real mountain biking. Shimano’s drivetrain technology was chosen for its sophistication and reliability, while the quality of the bearings and the simple and clever internal cable routing retain the classic qualities of Santa Cruz bikes.

Heckler’s limits are not defined by distance, laps, or time. The limits are in our heads and say “don’t bother”, “turn around”, “impossible”. Overcoming those limitations is what got us hooked in the first place. The Heckler isn’t about simplifying things, it’s about making them possible.
